Best Green Runs at Monarch

Monarch is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. It has lots of Green (easiest) runs to explore, and they can take you almost all over the mountain.

Monarch Tumbellina Lift

The best place to start your ski day is on the Tumbellina lift. It is a little bit different than most beginner lifts. There are actually two places to get off. The midway station and at the top.

For never-evers, or newer skiers, hop off at the midway station, and do a few laps on Snowflake. This is a good warm-up run, short, wide, open and forgiving.

Snowflake Run

Once this is feeling comfortable, ride Tumbellina all the way to the top, head straight off the lift to Rookie. This is a nice mellow run that takes you past the Panorama Lift (don’t get on!) and back down to the base area.  Ready for another ride?  Repeat or move on to  bigger and better runs.

Now the real fun starts! Head down the hill (past Tumbellina) from the main lodge to the Pioneer Lift, the only quad lift at Monarch. Ride this for an extra long time to the top of Monarch. This serves both beginner and intermediate runs.

Wow, look around, enjoy the view, take a few deep breaths and head for Sleepy Hollow (ahead and to the right). This is Monarch’s longest run, and a super place to polish your skills. Over a mile long, there are lots of places off to the side to stop and rest your legs. Just keep following the obvious route down (called the fall line), and eventually you will be back to the Monarch base area.
