The Monarch lodge is packed with amenities and comfortable spaces. Here is how the layout works. Think of the lodge as being in three layers.
The Top Floor, or North Lodge is on the right as you come into the parking lot. Go up the parking lot stairs and to the lodge. Buy your lift tickets outside here, the ski rental and lesson building is right next door, and there is easy access to all the lifts.
To get into the lodge from the parking lot stairs, just left is a small entrance that leads to the restrooms and the middle layer of the lodge.
To the right and past the lift ticket window is the main upper entrance. This leads to a great outdoor deck and seating area, with great view of the ski area. Inside the main doors is the upper level, a great place to hang out and meet. There is a small snack bar, well equipped store for ski accessories, guest services and lost and found. Almost everything you might need, skip the rest of the lodge, and go skiing.
A cool new feature at the lodge, there are several hydration stations. These are free water dispensers. The spigots fit water bottles, and free cups are handy.
From the upper level, you can take stairs down to the middle level, from here, you can enter the Sidewinder Saloon, a nice sit down and relax restaurant and bar. Lots of TVs, good views of the slopes and good food.
Continuing down the stairs takes you to the spacious new lodge expansion area. The starts with the huge new Gunbarrel Cafeteria and seating area. The cafeteria is well stocked with a hot and cold food, at reasonable prices.
Continuing down the stairs to the Lower Level. This level has more restrooms, lift ticket window, bag lunch seating, and Freshies Deli – quick and easy. The Monarch Snowcat meeting area is on this level also.
For locals, this level is where it all happens. An easy entrance to the slopes from the parking lot, snacks and drinks from Freshies and restrooms. All quick and easy at this level. It is usually much less crowded down here also.
The picnic/bag lunch area is a bit small, but it does have lockers. A nice way to save a trip back to the car.
